Research into cures for mesothelioma

In recent years the life expectancy of mesothelioma cancer patients has increased due to new medicines and more advanced surgery techniques. This will hopefully continue so long as there is enough funding and that seems to be happening especially in the United States where the vast majority of compensation claims are made. It is also a fact now that in most first world countries asbestos in public places has been systematically removed since the 1980's when associations were really evident. Many of the claims for compensation have come from former ship workers and their families who were exposed to enormous amounts of airborne asbestos during thie working life's in the 1940's right through to the 1980's

Since that time it was assumed by most workers that dangerous asbestos was removed from buildings, lofts and products for public safety but other countries may not have followed suit because of lack of funds to carry out the large scale removals. Even in The United States it has not always been possible to remove all of the asbestos due to the architecture and type of buildings that were erected earlier in the century. Nevertheless, many observers believe that mesothelioma litigation will peak around the year 2020 in the US due to the removal work already done. If other countries that have not removed asbestos from public buildings or private homes become as litigious as the United States in the future then injury claim attorneys will no doubt increase as will the search for a cure. A cure for mesothelioma would be enormously financially rewarding for the researchers who succeed. Lets all hope that they do.
